below are use caseS OF applications within UPS OperationS, with specific personas.

USE CASE 1: GPD Web / Mobile

Personas

Developed personas based on the GPD (Global Pickup and Delivery) Web legacy system. There were 2 different users for this application, one was an Admin user and the other was a Group Coordinator. By understanding each persona we were able to develop a framework application that was flexible for both end users by noting when certain functionality and features should be turned on or off based on the user type.

Legacy Framework

Carried design sessions with end users to better understand the existing framework and how it was used. These discussions and design sessions allowed us to design a navigational structure that was more intuitive and ease of use through consolidating and removing extra
noise within the old system.

FRAMEWORK SCOPE

Because this was a website with multiple functionality and features, I sat with product managers and developed a sitemap that listed out the new navigation of the features. This sitemap was used as a “roadmap” to upper management of what development status: What has been worked on and what needs to be completed to meet hard deadline in June.

New FRAMEWORK

Once the sitemap was created, I worked with the product managers to develop a high fidelity framework that worked for our end users, and met UPS style guide.

Design

Next step was designing the features of the application. First, I worked with PMs to figure out which feature to start from. Then I conducted Design Ideation Sessions with the Product Managers to design a flexible enterprise framework with a responsive model for mobile screen resolutions.

USE CASE 2: PILOT APPLICATION USING smart technology

UX Research

Attended a site visit to understand what the user was doing and understand some of the challenge and frustrations on their day to day.

Ability to observe how users were wearing smart technology, observing and interviewing them on how their experience has been thus far ? Do they feel the wearables has enahnced the ETA on load time and ease of use to do their task at hand to load trucks.

Make it stand out

Observed the existing application to see if it met user needs. Observations allowed us to see that the application was not consistent with its sister scanning applications.
As a result I worked with product owners to create consistent User flows and design to ensure consistency across the various applications within Operations and ensure end user needs met with an intuitive consistent design.

design

Observed the pilot design. Carried design sessions with Product Managers to understand end to end user flows based on user observation and sister applications.
From these sessions was able to create consistent user flows and design among sister apps along with meeting end user needs using smart technology.
Result was a more intuitive streamlined application and consistent brand across apps in Operations.
